Per questo film, in cui recita insieme a Drew Barrymore, Grant ha dovuto imparare a cantare e a ballare, interpretando la maggior parte delle canzoni del film. Nel 2009 torna sul grande schermo con la commedia romantica Che fine hanno fatto i Morgan?, in cui recita al fianco di Sarah Jessica Parker. La pellicola, diretta da Marc Lawrence, racconta le tragicomiche vicende di una coppia in crisi della borghesia newyorkese, che assiste involontariamente a un omicidio ed entra a far parte del programma protezione testimoni.
