The group was born in Modena in 1962 by the union of two Modenese formations: the "Young Lions" and "Paul & Cats". Before 1957 Victor Adolfo Maria Sogliani and Pier Parri had played in a group called "Hurricanes"; with some changes in the line changed its name to "The Tigers", who were composed of Maurizio Vandelli (vocals, guitar), Victor Sogliani (bass), the sister of Victor on guitar and Pierluigi "Pier" Parri (drums).

In 1960 instead of the Victor's sister went to Franco Ceccarelli guitar, and the same year the same Sogliani left the band to switch to "Marinos" (which at that time changed the name before in "Cats" and then in "Paul & Cats "), where they played Alfio Cantarella on drums, Franco Fini Storchi and Francesco Guccini on guitars, piano and Paul Marino Salardini Guarnera (from 'Golden rock boys" led by a young Andrea Mingardi) on vocals and sax; this group was most definitely started de "The Tigers", because already then carried out many evenings in northern Italy (while the other complex, being made up of high school students, could not devote himself to music in semi-professional way). The place of Sogliani in "The Tigers" (the name "Young Lions" changed again) he began to Luigi Simonini, while instead of Parri (who preferred to devote himself to the organization of the shows of the group's Sogliani) He went to Claudio Dotti battery.

Paul & the Cats did about 73 concerts until November 1962, but at this time there was a crisis in the group, due to the departure of Guccini and Fini Storchi for military service. Enter Maurizio Vandelli and Franco Ceccarelli. With contracts already acquired earlier, in Cortina they played all winter as the opening concert and closing night, where they performed Peppino di Capri and Don Marino Barreto Junior.

Maurizio Vandelli, who was interested in music more strongly than the other members of his group, comes into Paul & the Cats, but Ceccarelli disagrees, and through a friend of his law student, Corrado Bacchelli (hereinafter manufacturer Alan Parsons Project and founder of the record company CBO) Vandelli threatens to sue for damages; at this point, in agreement with the other, it is decided to also propose to Ceccarelli entry into the group.

When, after the summer evenings, even Guarnera autumn of 1964 decides to leave the complex, the four remaining decide to change name: born Equipe 84.

The 45s will happen in 1965, even 5 in a year, with some success, to the point that the Vedette decides to release an album coming out the same year and which encloses them, plus some unreleased

In those years we have their first two major holdings in singing competitions of the time: in fact participate in the Festival of Naples with Endless Night (1965), and subsequently in February 1966 at the Sanremo Festival in tandem with the Renegades [1] with the song Someday you seek me. The piece is offered in a 45 on that side B contains a song written a few years earlier by their friend Francesco Guccini, the antisocial (sung by Victor).

It is soon after this album that the band decided to break the contract with Sciascia (the question will end up in court) and to sign with the discs you remember that, being a larger record company than the Vedette, allows them to reach a wider success in fact the first 45 laps recorded for the new record company, I think you (Italian version of you were on my mind, written by Sylvia Fricker (the folk duo Ian & Sylvia) for We Five, but best known for Barry McGuire) version wins Cantagiro in 1966. on the back of the disc another very famous song, Resta (cover of Stay by Maurice Williams, years later sung by Jackson Browne). In fact, the first copies of the disc were remains as the A side, but since I think you were most in demand by the public, Ricordi decided to reprint it with the order reversed and a new cover.

Another success of that year's Bang Bang (eponymous hit Sonny Bono recorded by Cher) who has another song on side B's Guccini Auschwitz, in a version with slightly modified text from the original. The single comes in first place for five weeks. All these songs are in the album I have in mind you, published in July of that year.

29 Settembre - Equipe 84

This song is considered the first Italian song by psychedelic rock , anticipating three months even Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles, regarded as the world's masterpiece of that genre.

Among the most innovative aspects of this passage, the presence of a real radio presenter RAI hired for the occasion, announcing the News program with the date of the day that is set to the song and the following day. Carefully listening to the text, it is clear that the song is actually set on September 30 and referred to the previous day, 29 precisely as a flashback. This is evident in its version of the Equipe 84, where you can hear the announcer of radio news say, shortly after the start: "Yesterday, on September 29 ..." and then in the third verse: "Today, September 30. .. ". Moreover, in the third verse is the verse: "I just remember that yesterday (referring to 29) were not with me."

The text tells the story of a betrayal; the title, despite being on the cover sheet with the number 29, the SIAE is to be filed in written letters as Ventinove September , and appears as the cosigner Renato Angiolini teacher, whose name is absent on the disc label.

As he told Mogol, the date of September 29 was the birthday of his first wife Serenella.

Baptists reinterpreted this song in 1969, the release of her first album, Lucio Battisti; his performance is more traditional than Equipe. In his version, the voice of the speaker is replaced by a guitar solo.

L'Equipe 84 also recorded an English version of the song with the translated text by Tommy Scott: 29th September entitled was published on 45 laps with the English translation on the back of Auschwitz by Major Minor in England and Imperial Records in the United States

Casa Mia - Equipe 84

My house is the fifth album of the musical ensemble Italian Equipe 84.

The album, in fact, comes up with the name "New Equipe 84", the year before, in fact, the drummer of Alfio Cantarella group had been found in possession of a few grams of hashish, and had been arrested: RAI then decided to exclude the group from its programs.
