George Harvey Strait (born May 18, 1952) is an American country music singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer. He is known as the "King of Country"  and is considered one of the most influential and popular recording artists of all time.  He is known for his neotraditionalist country style, cowboy look, and being one of the first and main country artists to bring country music back to its roots and away from the pop country era in the 1980s.

Strait's success began when his first single "Unwound" was a hit in 1981. During the 1980s, seven of his albums reached number one on the country charts. In the 2000s, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, was elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and won his first Grammy award for the album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013, and ACM Entertainer of the Year in 1990 and 2014. He has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has more wins in both categories than any other artist.

In 2009, he broke Conway Twitty's previous record for the most number-one hits on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart when his 45 number one singles surpassed Twitty's 40.  Counting all music charts, Strait has amassed a total of 61 number-one hits, breaking a record also previously set by Twitty, and giving him more number one songs than any other artist in any genre of music.

Strait is also known for his touring career when he designed a 360- degree configuration and introduced festival style tours. For example, the Strait Tours earned $99 million in three years.  His concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX in June 2014 drew 104,793 people, marking a new record for largest indoor concert in North America.  Strait was successful innovating country music and in numerous aspects of being a part of popular music.

Strait has sold more than 100 million records worldwide,  making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. His certifications from the RIAA include 13 multi-platinum, 33 platinum, and 38 gold albums. His best-selling album is Pure Country (1992), which sold 6 million (6× platinum). His highest certified album is Strait Out of the Box (1995), which sold 2 million copies (8× Platinum due to being a box set with four CDs). According to the RIAA, Strait is the 12th best-selling album recording artist in the United States overall.

"Ace in the Hole" the title of a song written by Dennis Adkins, and recorded by American country music artist George Strait. George's touring band is called "The Ace in the Hole Band." It was released in July 1989 as the third single from his album Beyond the Blue Neon. It became his 18th #1 single as well as his 11th in a row.
The song is about life and how you have to keep a few tricks up your sleeve in order to get ahead. Every one is fighting to succeed and have a good life and in order to beat out the competition you have to have some good people around you.

"All My Ex's Live In Texas" is a song written by Sanger D. Shafer and Linda J. Shafer, and recorded by American country singer George Strait. It was released in April 1987 as the second single from Strait's album Ocean Front Property.

A version of the song recorded by its co-author Sanger D. Shafer appeared in the film Road House, the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[2] and TV show Ash vs Evil Dead. Rapper Drake mentions the song in his single "HYFR".

The format of the song is that of a list song.

"Amarillo by Morning" is a country music song written by Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser, and recorded by Stafford in 1973. Several cover versions have since been made, including a major 1983 hit for George Strait.

Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.[1]

It was covered in 1983 by George Strait. It appeared on Strait's 1982 album Strait from the Heart (LP MCA 5320). It was released on MCA as a single, release number 52162. The publisher's release was January 14, 1983, and the full release came February 16, 1983. The single entered the Billboard Country chart February 12, 1983, peaking at #4.[7]

Carrying Your Love With Me is the seventeenth studio album released in 1997 by American country music artist George Strait. It was released by MCA Nashville and it produced four singles for Strait on the Billboard country charts. "One Night at a Time", the title track, and "Round About Way", respectively the first, second, and fourth singles, all reached Number One, while "Today My World Slipped Away" (a cover of a Vern Gosdin song) reached #3. Eddie Kilgallon, then a member of the band Ricochet, co-wrote "One Night at a Time". The album has been certified 3× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for shipping three million copies in the U.S.

The song "She'll Leave You with a Smile" is not to be confused with another song with the same name which Strait recorded on his 2001 album The Road Less Traveled. This latter song, which was written by Odie Blackmon and Jay Knowles, was released by Strait in 2002, and became a Number One for him that year.

"The Cowboy Rides Away" is a song written by Sonny Throckmorton and Casey Kelly, and recorded by American country music artist George Strait. It was released in January 1985 as the second single from his album Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind. It peaked at number 5 on the United States Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, and at number 3 on the RPM Country Tracks chart in Canada. It is the song used by Strait to close out his performances. This is also the name of his last and final tour commencing January 18, 2013.

It was the last song he sang at his final concert ever on June 7, 2014 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas with a worldwide record setting attendance for the show at 104,000.

"King of the Mountain" the title of a song written by Larry Boone and Paul Nelson. First recorded in 1991 by George Jones for his album And Along Came Jones, the song was also cut by Boone on his 1993 album Get in Line.

It was later covered by American country music artist George Strait, and was released in December 1996 as the fourth and final single from his album Blue Clear Sky. The song reached #19 in the United States and number 27 in Canada.[1] Even though the song was his lowest peaking single since 1992's, "Lovesick Blues", it was one of the most critically acclaimed country songs in years.[2]

It was released in August 1985 as the lead-off single from his album Something Special. It peaked at number-one on the country music chart in both the United States and Canada in 1985.  The song was named by CMT as one of the top 100 country songs of all time, posting at number 24 on that list. Something that sets "The Chair" apart for most other songs of any style - it has no refrain or chorus. Only the basic melody repeats throughout the song.

Kevin John Coyne of Country Universe gave the song a B+ grade, saying that it "revels in his Western swing roots." He goes on to say that "the contemporary production makes it timely, but the arrangements and vocal performance make it timeless."
