Dieter Thomas Kuhn (born 7 January 1965 in Tübingen , bourgeois Thomas Kuhn ) is a German musician. He became popular as a successful representative of the Schlager revival of the 1990s . He received the nickname The Singing Föhnwelle .

Kuhn and his band, called "Chapel", began to cover 1994 German hits of the seventies. At the beginning he traveled through small clubs, at the then officially declared end of his Schlagerkarriere 1999 he played at large open-air concerts in part before 15,000 spectators.

Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band helped the German Schlager to a certain point and to a respect far beyond the national borders. Until 1999 four albums were released. He won the German Record Prize in 1997 and the following year.

In 1995 he was alongside Esther Schweins main actor in the film comedy Der Trip - The naked guitar 0.5 . This attempt at satire on the hippie flower power generation and the hits of the seventies, however, was a flop and was ranked among the "worst German films of the year" in the lexicon of the international film .
On 1 October 1999, Kuhn gave his farewell concert at the Stuttgarter Schleyerhalle , in order to reorient himself musically. His hometown of Tübingen thanked her well-known son for his success with the Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band -Exhibition of the City Museum from 12 February to 2 April 2000.

Attempts to succeed with German-Pop (Kuhn Null / Eins), however, failed as well as the project of Dreigroschenoper , which was started in 2002, which was stopped by Suhrkamp Verlag because of non-compliance with Werktreue.

On 9 December 2004 Kuhn made his comeback in the Hamburger Markthalle with his old Schlager repertoire, followed by a total of seven concerts until the late summer 2005. These were mostly sold out within a few hours.

Fan calls stopped Kuhn & Band to continue. The live VHS, released in 1999, was reworked and released as a comeback as a DVD. In December 2004, Kuhn released the solo CD Favorite Christmas Songs . In April 2006 the publication of the new Schlageralbum once followed around the world . This album also succeeded, like its predecessors, in the TOP 100 of the German Longplay charts. This was followed by the World Tour 2006 - once around the world .

On July 8, 2006, Kuhn sang for 80,000 fans at the Stuttgart football pitch at the 2006 FIFA World Cup after the small final (match for third place). Kuhn also celebrated the championship and vice-cup victory on the Cannstatter Wasen on 27 May 2007 with VfB Stuttgart .

After the end of their long-term record contract (WEA, Warner Music), Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band will release their first album under the label of their management (VEP-Vaddi's own record company) on the first tour. The album music is Trumpf rose to number 31 of the charts and rang the further touring music is trump 2007 and music is trump 2008 .

Since April 8, 2009 Dieter Thomas Kuhn & his chapel tour again through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The first concert took place in Salzburg, followed by Vienna and other dates all over Germany. In June 2009 the album Schalala appeared , with Dieter Thomas Kuhn & Band again making a top 50 chart placement.
On December 4, 2009 a live DVD was released, including a recording of the concert in 2009 at the Berlin Waldbühne as well as other highlights of the Schalala- Tour 2009.

In April 2010 Kuhn, such as Elton John and the Toten Hosen , sponsored a football club, especially his home club TSG Tübingen. [4] Together with the club's first football team, he shot a video for the new entry of the soccer classics. Good friends can not separate anyone from Franz Beckenbauer .
