Timi Yuro, Rosemarie's artistic name Timotea Aurro (Chicago, August 4, 1940 - Las Vegas, March 30, 2004), was an American singer of the pop, soul and R & B genre.

Born from Italian parents, originally from the Molise country of Rocchetta a Volturno, she moved very young with her family to Los Angeles, where she sometimes performed in her parents' restaurant. He signed a recording contract with Liberty Records and made his debut with Hurt (1961), a R & B style ballad launched by Roy Hamilton.

His powerful and emotional vocal style recalls that of Dinah Washington, so much so that many listeners thought that Timi was a color singer. Hurt came in fourth place in the American sales rankings, and five years later was brought to Italy by Fausto Leali under the title To whom.

The first album, Make the World Go Away, is from 1963, and contains country pieces and melodic standards reinterpreted in a soulful key.

Later Timi Yuro performs in many US cities and participates as "shoulder" to the Australian tour of Frank Sinatra in 1962. In 1965 is invited in Italy at the Sanremo Festival, which participates with two songs And then comes the autumn and I believe you . Will return in 1968 with The usual things by Pino Donaggio.

Towards the end of the '60s he moved from Liberty to Mercury Records, but his star is now in decline.

Shortly after his marriage, in 1969, he decided to leave the entertainment world. In 1976 the group of Manhattans relaunches Hurt in disc-music version, and many disc jockeys in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands use his voice sampled for some successful remixes.

Timi Yuro is encouraged to start over, but in the early 80s she was diagnosed with a vocal cord tumor. It is operated, but loses its powerful voice. His latest record, Timi Yuro sings Willie Nelson, dates back to 1984. The cancer will return to attack her throat, and will die at his home in Las Vegas in March 2004.

One of his biggest fans was Elvis Presley, who recorded his own version of Hurt in 1976 and is said to have always had his personal table booked in the Las Vegas premises when the singer was performing.
