Hi friends

among all the great George Gershwin songs this is one of my absolute favourites. Originally appearing in 1926 in the musical "Oh, Kay", where it was introduced by the great Gertrude Lawrence.  George Gershwin originally approached the song as an uptempo jazz tune, but his brother Ira suggested that it might work much better as a ballad, and George ultimately agreed.  :smiley-happy110:

Following this idea I decided to "split up" of the first and second part. Trying to recall my original way of playing the solo piano.

There is an excellent version of this song in the movie"Mr Hollands Opus" about halfway thru the movie. I don't know who the female singer is but it is one of the best versions of the song that I have heard. The movie is very sweet.
