Haindling is a music group founded by the Bavarian musician Hans-Jürgen Buchner , who is attributed to the New Folk Music. The name derives from Buchner's residence , which belongs to the Lower Bavarian town of Geiselhöring in the Straubing-Bogen district.

The music of the group Haindling is pop music with strong hits of jazz and Bavarian folk music and predominantly Bavarian texts. Buchner's interest in exotic instruments leads to further influences from the origins of these instruments, which include, for example, African , Tibetan and Chinese sound environments. With his music, Buchner wants to keep alive the Bavarian dialect, which is in the process of extinction.

It all began with the fact that Buchner, by profession of potter-master (and thus with music editors regularly evoked the nickname "sound artist"), wanted to listen to the music by the way. However, since he had a different taste of music from that of the time, he began to compose his own music. In his first public appearances in 1980, he and his current wife Ulrike Böglmüller performed their own productions.

His original intention of "making music by the way" gave Buchner the opportunity to make contact with the recording company Polydor and a contract for a first record, which was released in 1982, about a chance acquaintance with the singer Kevin Coyne . When this became established under the name of his home town Haindling in the radio stations and won the German Record Prize, Hans-Jürgen Buchner founded the band in 1983. He found the members on a newspaper.

In the following albums, Buchner continued to use the principle of self-production, which was established during the first album. The band Haindling (in contrast to the project Haindling) was not involved in the record productions, apart from the two live albums "mutiny" and "beads". Roald Raschner was co-producer on some albums.

The Haindling song "Lang scho nimmer g'sehn" from 1984, which is well-known beyond the borders of Bavaria, reached number 33 of the charts in Germany. The Dutch cover version "Hilversum III" by Herman van Veen came to the top 10 in his homeland. Other well-known pieces are Du Depp (1983), Spinn i (1985), It goes again (1987), Very far away (1991) , Liebe (1991) - reached 28th place in the Swiss Charts - or Noch in der Umlaufbahn (1993).

In addition to the studio albums, Haindling also makes music for film and television, as the title music for seven series and multi-parts of the Bavarian Television . The song Paula from the series Zur Freiheit as well as the title to somehow and in any way became also known beyond the associated series. Furthermore the piece Pfeif found it as a title-music of the ZDF- series the Rosenheim-Cops and the film three-men use (a melody is borne on Pfeif on it has been the jingle of the Versicherungskammer Bayern in radio, television and as a telephone call loop).

An overview of Buchner's work as a film composer is provided by the double-album film music published in 2000 and the soundtrack for the Simon-Polt film series , which was released in 2004 under the title Vivaldi & Vier Jahreszeiten. Another Haindling project is the Kinder-CD Tigertenliederchen , which was developed in cooperation with Janosch .

In 2006, he composed an anthem for his native Lower Bavaria in cooperation with the radio program Bayern 1 . Four Seasons released a soundtrack for the Simon-Polt movie series. For its "as snappy as musical virtuoso criticism, Mir-san-mir'-Bayerntum" was Hans-Jürgen Buchner by the Bavarian State Minister of Science, Research and the Arts, in 2000, Hans Zehetmair , with the award Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum honored .

Nearly every year, Haindling play summer concerts at selected festivals and usually also go on concert tours. In October 2013 an autumn tour took place. For the first time the band played a concert in Italy at the Steinegg Live Festival. Worth mentioning are a total of seven performances of songs on a summer evening , all broadcast by Bavarian Radio.

In 2017 Haindling will perform with "Carmina Burana" with choir and soloists of the Munich Symphoniker in the courtyard of the Thurn und Taxis palace in Regensburg. In addition, the 35th anniversary of the band is celebrated with selected concerts. A new album was also announced in several interviews.
