Red roses, red lips, red wine is the title of a percussion sung by René Carol in 1952, composed by Michael Harden (music) and André Hoff (text).
Since 1949, composer Kurt Feltz has been making sure that wanderlust and southern countries have been the subject of hits. In this context he came up with the idea of creating a new composition with the musical title Red Roses, red lips, red wine . "Last spring, I saw a glaring poster on a rainy Bavarian village street: curving grapes, blue sea, sky and - between the lips of a beautiful - a red rose. And see, I suddenly had melody and lyrics in my head. "

Michael Harden, a pseudonym of Franz-Leo Andries , Kurt Feltz's assistant at the NWDR in Cologne, provided the musical accompaniment . A rhetorician for Schlageraufnahmen was unusual before the Feltz era. Earlier - and also with other music producers - the singers were led by their piano accompanists or the Kapellmeister. The conductor was, however, a relatively insignificant person at Feltz, as information about tempo or volume came from the government. Feltz, the conductor, did not count to his staff.  Kurt Feltz once again hid himself under the name of André Hoff,  who thus played a major role in the genre as a songwriter and music producer.

The sound recordings with percussionist René Carol took place on the 8th of June 1952 in the Cologne exhibition center ("Messestudio"). As the conductor , his NWDR dance orchestra was Adalbert Luczkowski , who alone was responsible for the accompaniment of 92 recordings by René Carroll. The tango Barbara Kist , Rosemarie Bergson and a choir performed for the background vocals . The text portrayed with Italy a country which for the most part of the Germans still seemed inaccessible.
