Werner Böhm (born June 5, 1941 in Thorn , Reichsgau in Danzig-West Prussia ), alias Gottlieb Wendehals, is a German singer and musician .

In 1979, he created the stage figure of Gottlieb Wendehal, a lanky, somewhat "tumultuous" jester with a north German regiolect, a pomadied middle crest, a black and white plaid jacket, a tattered act bag, and a rubber chicken under his arm. In this manner, he played various fun titles from which Herbert (1980) and the Polonäse Blankenese (1981) made their way to the top ten in Germany, the latter remaining in the top nine weeks. At the height of his fame in 1982, Werner Böhm worked alongside Karl Dall and Helga Feddersen in the erotic farce Sunshine Reggae Ibiza with. From 1985 he traveled with fourteen musicians as a "Gottlieb-Wendehals-Band" across Europe.

In 1982 he took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . With The Earworm he reached the eleventh and therefore penultimate place. He was also a composer and lyricist (in collaboration with Michael Chambosse ), with the song Lady (sixth place), which his then wife Mary Roos played together with David Hanselmann.

Polonäse Blankenese is the most famous and successful song by Werner Böhm , which he presents in the role of the figure of Gottlieb Wendehal. The song reached # 1 on the German charts in 1981 and lasted a total of nine weeks. In 1982, the single in Germany was honored with a Golden Record for more than 250,000 copies sold , which has been one of the best-selling German-language hit songs since 1975 . A Party Polonäse, which was led by Gottlieb Wendehals in 1982, with 250,000 participants at the Hamburger Binnenalster , made it into the Guinness Book of Records . [1] Polonia Blankenese is a member of the group . [2] In the live performances on the television, Gottlieb Wendehals with an action bag and rubber cock and plaid jacket often ran at the top of a dance group, which is on the shoulders. [3] In the song lyrics, there is a vexier rhyme , in which a frivolous word ( tits ) is replaced by a harmless one: "We are going on with very large steps, and Erwin touches Heidi from behind on the shoulder."
