PANORAMA RACŁAWICKA in Wroclaw is one of the few places in the world where you can admire the relic of nineteenth-century mass culture. The big painting (15x114m), thanks to the fusion of specific treatments and varnishes (special perspective) and technical (lighting, artificial terrain, dark, winding approach), "moves" the viewer into a different reality and a different time. Raclawice Panorama is the first and only extant Polish work of this kind.
The originator of Panorama was known Lviv artist Jan Styka (1858-1925), who invited outstanding battles, Wojciech Kossak (1856-1942).
The authors of the idea depended mainly on the commemoration of national traditions on the hundredth anniversary of the Kosciuszko Insurrection and the victorious battle fought on 4 April 1794 by the army of Raclawice insurgent - with the participation of famous scythe - under the command of General Tadeusz Kosciuszko (1746-1817) - Russian troops led by General Tormassov. From the beginning, enjoyed popularity among the audience and immediately It has become a major magnet for Lviv tourists.
After World War II, in 1946, the painting along with part of the collections of Ossolineum went to Wroclaw. Here, another Social Committees They did the efforts of the maintenance and the exposure of the canvas. The expectations of many Poles fulfilled only after the shock in August 1980. Re-provision of Panorama took place on June 14, 1985. A huge attraction of old Lviv immediately became the main attraction of Wroclaw.
