Petrus Antonius Laurentius "Pierre" Kartner (born 11 April 1935) is a Dutch musician who sings under the stage name Vader Abraham (Father Abraham), and who has written around 1600 songs.

The idea for the single was music producer and organizer of the Schlagerfestival Harry Thomas , in collaboration with cartoonist Peyo , the Smurfs would promote. As executive Thomas had his protégé Dennie Christian in mind, but his manager Toni Hendriks saw nothing in there. Also Dureco , the record company to whom the proposal was also made, there is no salvation saw. Thomas then stepped Kartner that ' t Smurfs Song wrote, on condition that he could sing in Schlagerfestival. Thomas went agrees, then 't Smurfs Song in the autumn of 1977 Dureco released as a single.
The single went to number one in the Top 40 and National Hit Parade and spent 17 weeks in both charts . It was in 1977 the best-selling single in Netherlands with estimated sales of between 400,000 and 450,000 copies. 's Smurfs Song was also the second best selling single of all time in English Netherlands. (The best-selling Dutch album of all time is Och was ik maar of Johnny Hoes 1961 at least 450,000 copies, although exact sales figures are hard to verify).

n 't kleine café aan de haven is een single van Pierre Kartner. Het is tevens zijn bekendste lied en wordt heden ten dage wel als evergreen gezien.
Het lied dat bol staat van de nostalgie zat al een jaar in het hoofd van Pierre Kartner, toen hij het uiteindelijk uitbracht. Het is geschreven in 't Schippershuis, een café dat zich prominent in de haven van Hoorn bevindt. In 1976 stond het lied slechts drie weken in de Single Top 100 en acht weken in de Nederlandse Top 40, een (relatief) matig resultaat voor een single. Het plaatje zorgde echter al snel voor een muzikale splitsing in muziekliefhebbend Nederland; je liep ermee weg of je haatte het lied grondig. Bij aankondiging in de hitparades werd er soms laatdunkend over gedaan, terwijl toch een deel van bevolking het een prachtig lied vond, zeker de "gewone" man.
