Of humble family - his father, Peter Pica (this is the real name of the singer), was the driver; mother, Ulpia Urbani (the "sora Ulpia"), was a housewife -, together with Domenico Modugno boasts the record of wins (four) at the Sanremo Festival in 1955, with Bonjour tristesse; in 1957 with Strings of my guitar; in 1962, with Goodbye ... goodbye, just in couple with Modugno, and in 1967, with no thought of me.

The first singing contest in which it participates, overcame it with Chitarratella song, a great success of Carlo Buti, Claudio followed. It is the same Claudius, who has repeatedly stated that Buti was his idol. The "little king" in his career he has recorded many songs that are part of butiano repertoire.

Un amore così grande - Claudio Villa

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6iyeZpNnTw

"Un amore così grande" is an old song of the repertoire of Italian music and was written by Guido Maria Ferilli for music and Antonella May for text in 1976. The song was born at the request of the teacher said Mariano who edited the ' arrangement for the first version or the one engraved by Mario del Monaco is in a lp of 1976 in a 45 the same year with "Dicitencello vuje", another great classic. Del Monaco, excluding small experiences in pop music, was primarily a content and the above song was then written precisely for this type of artist. Over the years, the song has been taken over by larger industry players such as Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli. But the song, since the global success, has been the subject of numerous Italian and foreign cover and one of the most surprising and, surely, the most exciting was that proposed by Claudio Villa during the Sanremo Festival in 1984, of course, out of the race. The great vocal skills of Villa gave to that song a popular size giving it a new light in the world of pop music. Naturally, however, the interpretation of that song, with those shades, it is not for everyone especially if you do not belong to the category of the tenors. Villa are not predominantly a tenor, he had those shades and again wanted to try their hand at this performance with great results. His performance, to date, is that perhaps it remains in the collective memory for both the artist's popularity for both the beauty of the song. Claudio Villa, true Trastevere, was one of the leading interpreters of Italian music from the '60s until his whole life that he died in 1987 due to a heart attack. His connubbio with music also accompanied him on the day of death, which occurred just during the '87 Sanremo Festival and the same stage of the Ariston Pippo Baudo, conductor of that edition, announced live death causing a general commotion in both audience behind the scenes. Villa was a character not always easy, aware of his great talent appeared sometimes cocky and arrogant, but was loved by everyone even by his rival-friends of the time for its authenticity and for what he knew to transmit with a microphone in his hands. Returning to the track, more recently, has been taken either by the daughter of Claudius, Manuela Villa in 2000 by Francesco Renga in 2009. A success, then, that you will never see the end but always find new interpreters ready to give life to this masterpiece .
